About the Author
Theodore Cohen is the Ella Fulton Dunham Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. Before coming to Ohio Wesleyan in 1984, he earned his B.A. in sociology from Brooklyn College, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in sociology from Boston University. In addition to his teaching career at Ohio Wesleyan, Dr. Cohen has taught at a variety of public and private universities including Boston University, Northeastern University, Clark University, and Rowan University. Throughout these different educational contexts, he has found that enthusiasm, humor, and determination to engage students to apply sociological concepts to their own lives has worked with equal effectiveness in classes of nine or ninety. He brings those same objectives to his writing. In 1990, Dr. Cohen received The Sherwood Dodge Shankland Award for the Encouragement of Teachers, one of two awards Ohio Wesleyan gives for teaching excellence. In addition to being the co-author of THE MARRIAGE AND FAMILY EXPERIENCE since its eighth edition, Dr. Cohen is the editor of MEN & MASCULINITY: A TEXT READER (Wadsworth 2001). He has also published articles and book chapters on aspects of men's lives, especially their transitions to marriage and fatherhood, and on the family and work lives of a sample of nontraditional couples. Dr. Cohen's own family experiences include many of the issues covered and addressed in this text. He has been married, widowed, in a long distance relationship, remarried, separated, and divorced. He has also been a father, stepfather, and caregiver.

Seller is great, book information is garbage.

The seller did great, shipping was great, book was used and in ok to slightly rough condition. The contents of the book on the other hand is crap... I dubbed the name to "The marriage and the Feminist experience"... As a white male, this book basically says I'm the cause of all the world's problems, total garbage. Also, I understand that we don't want to offend anyone, and we need to give credit to those who've done the research that we're using/citing, but reading this book is horrible. You cannot read more then a couple sentences without breaking thought to read the citation of who wrote or researched the information... John Doe, 2013.... SO IRRITATING. This is an instructional book, put all the references in the back and throw up little numbers next to the quotes. Again, the seller did fine.

easy read.

My prof advised us to get this book because it was less expensive than the current edition...however their are some differences...such as the true/false questions in the beginning of each chapter...they have changed..which could cost you a grade...so be aware...i showed my prof and he said that he would honor the old text book, if their were any issues...as long as i could prove it in the book....so no prob for now...But it is a very interesting book..easy read.....and its an ebook....even better....i can do compare and contrast on the train, without having to lug around books..

feels like a report

Reading this book felt like I was reading the results of a study. Too many citations not enough original content. Had this book for a sociology class and it made the course more difficult. I had the eBook version and it wasn't any better. Should have a word search tool like most online books.
Also, citing from this book is a nightmare since everything written is already cited from other publishings
