A Dry, but Good, Guide

At first I really hated this book. It was sooooo dry and the first chapter was basically a retelling of Genesis from the bible but with processor models and somehow even less interesting information. Now that I am past my first course in assembly though, I use this book way more than i use my new book. I bring this one with me to lab because it's always nice to have the instruction pages handy and to be able to look into more thorough explanations of things when necessary. It's hard to learn this stuff at first, there's no doubt about it, but there are good resources online and this book is a great reference and tool but it's like most technical books, trying to read it like a novel is highly not recommended.

this is not the same as the paperback version. There are differences in page number, the problems, and the sample codes and figures. 99% the same, but not completely. I make the mistake, because I though it would be identical
