Chapter 1 is Molter Salt Reactor Technology and worth the cost of the book

After the front page is a quotation from Mr. David Le Blanc: `The molten salt reactor technology: "Too good to leave on the shelf".

The book is arranged in four chapters, with chapter one describing the technology, and chapter 2 "Heat Transfer in MSRs" Chapter 3 is "Assessment of MSR Thermo-Hydronamics and Newtronics" and chapter 4 "Multi-Physics Modeling Approach".

Chapter 1 is titled "Molten Salt Reactor Technology" and would make an excellent stand alone book. It covers a brief history going back into the 1940s when it was part of a U S program to develop a nuclear powered airplane. Single fluid and two fluid reactors are addressed. A plant layout for a single fluid Molten Salt Breeder Reactor (MSBR) is shown. A MSRE flow diagram is given. A figure showing a schematic representation of a graphite moderated Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) is provided. The issue of safety is addressed. Four different fuel cycles: Actinide burning, Once-through fuel cycle, denatured thorium- U233 breeder cycle and thorium - U233 breeder cycle are addressed. Salts are addressed including lithium and beryllium fluoride salts, and their characteristics in comparison the lead, sodium, helium and water are addressed. Primary loop structural components are addressed. Advantages and drawbacks of the MSR technology is addressed in a short table (2) Table 7 provides a chart of radiotoxicity due to MSBR actinide wastes compared to other fuel cycles. Different concepts of MSRs are addressed including, thermal-spectrum breeders, fast- spectrum breeders, fast- spectrum incinerators, thermal - spectrum incinerators, sub - critical incinerators and Chlorine - salt MSRs. There are a number of excellent tables and graphics illustrating the chapter.

I consider chapter 1 as very informative regarding the state of MSRs and what they can offer for the future. Anyone interested in MSRs will find chapter 1 interesting and a good read. Chapters 2, 3, and 4 are or interest to the MSR designer.

Additionally, he worked for a biopharmaceutical company, Theravance, as Sr. Director of Technical Operations.

He provided analytical support to a variety of dosage forms and drug substances, which included:

Tablets, Soft Capsules, Hard Capsules, Creams and Gels Injectables (Suspensions, Solutions or Lyophilized) Controlled Release Forms (Oral and Injectable) Manufacture of small molecules, peptides and proteins

In Dr. Catalano’s 30 years in the industry, he made significant contributions to the development and registration of many products such as NutraSweet, Cytotec, Arthrotec, Celebrex, Bextra, Dynastat, Inspra and Vibativ (glycopeptide antibiotic).

I would recommend this book to everyone working in CMC, not only the analytical chemists, which are the obvious audience of this book, but also the scientists and managers in pharmaceutical science and chemical development. This book provides an detailed overview on what is necessary to establish an efficient analytical development and quality control organization, all the requirements, in documentation, process, and scientific concept.

This book discusses various functions of Analytical Development organization, such as HPLC method development, method validation, and method transfer, provided guidances on the specification development, stability program, reference standard program and training program.

Este libro es un pesimo documento de muy poco contenido didactico.

Adquiri el libro entendiendo que se trataba de un texto serio, profesional y bien fundamentado sobre la materia de Capellania y encontre que es un trabajo mas parecido a un folleto, pobrisimo en contenido educativo. Llos pocos y superficiales temas que trata son generalidades conocidas y los presenta sin ninguna profundidad ni estudio biblico serio y formal. Siendo la Palabra tan rica en principios y fundamentos para la labor de consejeria el autor produce un texto que si se transcribiera en un documento no completaria 20 paginas y mas se parece a un trabajo de un estudiante que a un libro de texto serio. Me preocupa que autores con tan poca calidad literaria, conceptual y sin fundamento profundo de conocimiento sean publicados y promovidos por organizaciones como Amazon lo que les da un caracter de calidad que no poseen y se presta a confusion de la comunidad. El texto ademas adolece de errores de ortografia y redaccion que reafirman mi percepcion de perdida de tiempo y dinero con su compra. Su lectura, por su cortedad. me tomo menos de media hora.

About the Author
Lee Coppock has a Ph.D. from George Mason University and is Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Virginia. Like Dirk Mateer, Lee has been teaching Principles of Economics for over twenty years; he specializes in the Principles of Macroeconomics. Lee has been at UVA for more than ten years, where he teaches very large classes (600 plus students per lecture) and has become a local legend. He is especially well known for cutting through the jargon and “econ speak” that plagues so many economics courses and texts, and patiently explaining the lessons of modern economics in terms that his students readily understand.

Dirk Mateer has a Ph.D. from Florida State University and is the Senior Lecturer and Gerald Swanson Chair of Economic Education at the University of Arizona. Dirk has been teaching Principles of Economics for over twenty years; he specializes in the Principles of Microeconomics. Before moving to the University of Arizona, Dirk spent 1 year at the University of Kentucky developing their online Principles courses and 15 years at Penn State where he taught very large classes (700 plus students per lecture), developing a reputation as one of the most effective and creative instructors of Principles of Economics in the country; for this, he was recently featured in Businessweek.

Best Textbook I've ever bought

I was actually privileged enough to take the course with Professor Coppock, and it has been by far and away the best course I have ever taken at UVA. The book is written in a wonderfully personable way, and concepts are broken down fantastically. I would even go as far to say that if you're taking ANY intro macro class, this is the textbook to buy. If you're taking Coppock's class, his course follows the textbook almost exactly, but the textbook will further explain and give additional examples he doesn't have time to cover in class. The chapters are short and to the point, and the questions at the end are relevant and reinforce the information presented.

Reid Becker was nothing like his brother. Shayla made that assessment in about ten seconds―the length of time it took for the man to settle on a couch between a pretty brunette and a busty redhead.

Reid was attractive in a scruffy, sexy, take-no-prisoners, don't-get-attached kind of way. Just the kind of man she would have expected to see in a bar called the Cadillac Lounge. His jeans were faded. His t-shirt had a guitar on the front, and he didn't look like he'd shaved in a day or two. He had penetrating eyes, green, she thought, and his thick, wavy, tousled brown hair looked as if someone had run their hands through it―maybe the redhead who was stroking his thigh while whispering something in his ear.

Reid laughed and gave the woman a quick kiss before calling the waitress over for another shot.

Shayla frowned. This was the man who was supposed to save Robert? He was either drunk or on his way to it. She really wished Robert had agreed to let her call Max. Emma's husband was a detective. Max could do more for Robert than this guy. But Robert had been insistent that she trust no one but Reid. Right now he seemed like the last man she should trust.

Someone bumped into her from behind, and she stumbled forward.

Reid suddenly looked up, his gaze meeting hers. Then he gave a beckoning wave.

She started at the gesture and turned around to see if he was talking to someone behind her, but there was no one there. When she turned back to face him, she saw amusement in his eyes.

"You," he said, motioning her to come forward. "I could use a blonde over here."

She frowned at his suggestive and rude comment. As much as she wanted to blow him off, she couldn't. She'd promised Robert. So she stepped forward and gave him what she hoped was a serious and sharp look. "Are you Reid Becker?"

"Who wants to know, babe?"

"My name is Shayla Callaway." She looked for some sort of recognition, but there was nothing more than casual curiosity in his gaze. Apparently, Robert had never mentioned her to his brother. "I need to talk to you."

He patted his thigh. "I got a spot right here for you, sweetheart."

"It's about your brother."

His jaw tightened, and anger flashed through his eyes. "What about him?"

"Could we speak in private?"

"I'm not interested in anything Robert has to say."

"Robert isn't the one talking; I am. It will take just a few minutes," she added, feeling a little desperate. She'd expected Robert's brother to want to help her, but this man had gone cold at the mention of his brother's name. "It's important. A matter of life and death."

He stared at her for a long moment, his gaze searching her face as if to judge the sincerity of her words. Finally, he disengaged himself from the women and stood up. He was taller than Robert―taller, broader, stronger, sexier…

Her stomach tightened as he walked over to her.

"So, talk," he ordered.

"Outside," she said, not letting him intimidate her. She was used to strong men. She had five brothers and a father and a grandfather who were leaders among men. Not only that, she was a female doctor who'd taken a lot of crap over the years. She could handle this guy. At least she thought she could. She just needed to get past the unexpected nervous tingle running down her spine. She turned away from Reid and walked toward the front door, hoping he would follow. After a moment's hesitation he did exactly that.

When they neared the door, Reid put a hand on her shoulder and said,"This is far enough."

She glanced around, wanting to make sure there was no one close enough to hear what she was about to say. Then she looked back at Reid. While she could smell the liquor on his breath, the gleam in his eyes told her he was paying attention.

"I was working for your brother at a clinic in Colombia until a week ago. There was trouble. Some people were hurt―killed―and your brother went missing." She licked her dry lips. "This morning Robert called me. He said he was in danger and that only you could help him."

"Is this a joke?" Reid asked, disbelief in his eyes, eyes that were definitely green, a beautiful green, she thought, distracted by his gaze. "Well?" he prodded.

"No, it's not a joke," she said, forcing herself to focus.

"Why would you ask that?"

"Because there's no way Robert could possibly think that I would want to help him."

She remembered what Robert had said on the phone―that he didn't know how long it would take her to convince his brother to meet him. "Look, it's not a joke. I don't know what's between you and your brother, but Robert said you are the only one who can save his life." She saw lingering doubt in Reid's expression and searched for another way to convince him. "It was on the news―the attack on the clinic―you can look it up online. I'm not lying about what happened. Your brother is in serious trouble."

Reid ran a hand through his hair, his jaw stiff with tension, his eyes glittering with emotions she couldn't begin to decipher.

"This doesn't make any sense," he muttered.

"Maybe it will make sense if we keep talking. Can we get some coffee?" She could see the indecision in his eyes, but she couldn't take no for an answer. "What do you have to lose by having a cup of coffee with me?" she asked. "Just give me fifteen minutes."

"Maybe tomorrow."

"It can't wait until then. Please." She was close to begging, but she didn't care. She'd been on edge for a week, and she wouldn't be able to stop the nightmares until Robert was back in San Francisco, living his life, and doing his job. "You have to help me. I don't know what else to do."

Her pending hysteria worked in her favor. Reid put his hand on her shoulder again. "Okay, calm down. We'll talk." He glanced at his watch. "There's a coffee house around the corner. It should be open for at least another hour."

"Perfect," she said with relief, following him outside.

The bar was in an industrial area that was fine by day but seedy at night, and while it was only a little after eight o'clock, she was happy to have Reid by her side.

They crossed the street at the corner and were only a few feet into the intersection when a car came speeding down the block.

love love love this work of art. The Callaways always provide riveting tale. Shauna is by far my favorite to date. The danger in her life is scary and attention grabbing. The hero is just what she needs. For once, she gets to be the rescuer. Told with just the right blend of anger and love. Minor characters provide good padding but don't steal the show.
I am ready for the next just to get the answers to some questions.
Thank you Barbara for another heart stopper.

You can't go wrong with a novel by Barbara, and this one is no exception. It has a little bit of everything: suspense, mystery, action, a dysfunctional family (Reid's), a close family (Shayla's), and, of course, love.

if you haven't already, I would recommend reading the previous books from the series first. It would help you to better understand the Callaway family dynamics, since they all make an appearance in this one. Not only that, but they're great stories and well worth the read.

That Summer Night is number six in the Calloway series by Barbara Freethy. As with her other books, her characters are wonderfully developed. She doesn’t spend an inordinate amount of time telling everything that came before in this series; but she manages to get the essential information in. I really liked this book and the series.
Shayla Callaway is a doctor who has just returned from Colombia where she had witnesses a massacre of the people she was taking care of. It was a great disappointment to her when the people she was helping turned. She made it back to the United States; but her boss, Dr. Robert Decker did not. Now she is worried about him. He called her and asked her to get something from his office and to find his brother and give it to him along with a message to help him. He does not want the police involved.
Reid Callaway is Robert’s twin. He is ex-military and is trying to figure out what he is going to do. His life was the military and now the “incident” left him unable to serve. He is trying to drown his worries when Shayla found him. He didn’t want anything to do with his brother. They clashed over a girl who ended up marrying his brother. Now he has to decide whether blood is thicker than water. Will he help his brother? What trouble has Robert gotten into now?
