Pretty handy

I ordered this initially for my sister-in-law who got an iPad for Christmas, and she raved about it because she is technology-challenged. Once I decided to get an iPad2 for myself, I ordered the book for me and it took about 2 weeks to arrive. This book takes you from the minute you turn on the iPad and then gives some pretty good info on the inner workings and answers many of the "how do I..."questions. I had already set up the iPad by the time the book arrived, but I have found myself refering to the book when I can't remember how I did something ;) Overall it is not a bad find.

Easy to use book for older folk.

The baby boomers didn't have computers when they were children. But their children had the beginning of the computer craze, and their grandchildren now have iPads. In order to be able to use iPads with grandchildren, the grandparents need a guide to interpret this what to them is like a foreign language. iPad for Seniors is just the right book for us older folk, me included. It is in large print for easier reading. It starts off with introducing you to iPad features, especially using the Home screen. Then it shows you how to connect to the Internet, email your Grandkids, shop for media and apps. It shows you how to make video calls and instant message. Soon what seems impossible is now fun: the Newsstand app has your favorite magazines, and you can hear music (the sound can be turned higher for the hearing impaired), see videos, get apps you like. And the iPad will help you stay organized with its reminders & notifications. There are maps, iBooks, how to use iCloud help, even troubleshooting tips. I think the best is the "let your iPad find itself" for people, like me, who misplace items. Grandmas & grandpas, this is the iPad "life alert" book.

I absolutely love this book. I have started reading it from the beginning but I also have gone through the index at the back of the book to find information when I didnt understand or know how to do something. Big print is nice and so is the quality of the paper used. I am 71 and this is the first time i have purchased an electronic device like this ipad. No iphone or ipod, just my computer which I am pretty knowledgeable about. Dont hesitate to buy this item, it is wonderful. Thank you so much Nancy Muir!!

Sarah Boslaugh holds a PhD in Research and Evaluation from the City University of New York and have been working as a statistical analyst for 15 years, in a variety of professional settings, including the New York City Board of Education, the Institutional Research Office of the City University of New York, Montefiore Medical Center, the Virginia Department of Social Services, Magellan Health Services, Washington University School of Medicine, and BJC HealthCare. She has taught statistics in several different contexts and currently teaches Intermediate Statistics at Washington University Medical School. She has published two previous books: An Intermediate Guide to SPSS Programming: Using Syntax for Data Management (SAGE Publications, 2004) and Secondary Data Sources for Public Health (forthcoming from Cambridge U. Press, 2007) and am currently editing the Encyclopedia of Epidemiology for SAGE Publications (forthcoming, 2007).

Good content, horrible Kindle formatting.

This is a great single book to have that covers most key topics in statistics, both mathematically and intuitively. I found it understandable and well written.

My big gripe with this book is that the Kindle formatting is horrible (Kindle PC App, and Kindle iPad App). Some equations are barely readable, others are huge and take up a third of the page, just ridiculous to try to read.

I think it would be better to get this from Oreilly in pdf format. Wish Amazon would get their act together on the Kindle books.

An excellent referance book for those with past training in statistics

For those whose last course in statistics took place some time ago and those who really did not absorb it then, and especially those who want (need to) (must) to apply this powerful tool to real problems, this is a most useful book.
I don't see it as as an introduction to statistics but rather as a tool for those who know there is a procedure that will really help them solve a present problem, but can't remember what it was nor exactly how to use it.

Broad Treatment of Stats without College Textbook Price

I did okay in Statistics in college, but the textbooks I had were not well suited for review. I believe my experience mirrors many. There was also a lot missing. Classes and their textbooks tend to be narrowly focused to majors or topics, e.g. Stats for the social sciences, Stats for Education, Stats for Science & Engineering, etc. My work requires looking at financial information one day, database info the next, maybe productivity the third. Statistics in a Nutshell is a great source for getting a grounding in sample selection, understanding confidence and trend analysis. I appreciated finding a textbook-quality treatment without a college textbook price.

I loved it. I was very excited to learn about angels. I believe I have encountered a couple in my life--probably my own angels to assigned to me. They were in a large man reaching down and grabbing me out o the path of a truck. An alley ran beside our house and I was running around the house edge and fell. A large delivery trunk was coming right there- I must have bee around 3 yrs. old. He carried me up to my house and gave me to my mother. She does not remember this but I do! The last remembered encounter, was about 9 years ago. I was in the process of having another hip revision and was in pain and could not been down very well to put air in my car tire. I was asking the Lord how am I going to be able to air my tires(one kept losing air). When I pulled up to the air hose meter, a young boy (about 14 or so) appeared and offered to help me. I did not see him come up to me. I was very surprised and thankful, I told him my problem. He walked around filling my tires with air. I thank him and offered him a couple dollars and he refused. (I still did not think angel). I insisted and told him to buy himself a soft drink. Told him how thankful I was and that I felt he was an answer to my prayer. I looked down to open my car door and he "just" disappeared. I looked every where around the gas station and could not see him and felt he could not have vanished just like that--then I thought "angel" and thanked God. I was so excited to read about the coming harvest--that it will be greater than Acts 2. and the exciting "Force" for the end time harvest. I am 83 years old. I feel I have more to be doing with this end time harvest. I am very excited. Thank you for this book too. While I seemed to be limited on physically. I am a person that prays and have been doing this for awhile. It does not take the physical aspect, I can pray. God bless and keep you all in His loving care and direction. Thank you Mr. Sheets, for being attentive to The Holy Spirit and writing this book. I tell other about your book.

I highly recommend this for the Believers who understand the Work of the Cross. This book is a quick read, lays the purpose Angels of God have been dispatched for those who Believe and the activation of them hearken to the Word of God. I liked this so much I also bought the E Book so I have that as I travel as well. My soft cover is highly highlighted and has some side notes as well.

About the Author
Lou Priolo is a Fellow of the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors and an instructor with Birmingham Theological Seminary. He has been the Director of Biblical Counseling at Eastwood Presbyterian Church since 1998 and has started counseling ministries at additional churches in Alabama, where he lives with his wife Kim and their two daughters Sophia and Gabriella.
